A Clay & Yoga Weekend Retreat with Ahyeong × Aztrid
About the Retreat
The light is already thinning. In a few weeks, Longyearbyen tips into polar night — and this weekend is built for arriving there grounded.
For the first time, Aztrid and Soul Peak are coming together: clay and yoga, side by side, over two days. You'll sketch and hand-pinch your own tea cup, move through 90 minutes of intentional movement guided by Ion, decorate what you've made, and — a few weeks later, once the darkness has properly settled in — gather again for tea, journaling, and a sharing circle.
It's a weekend for coming back to your senses before the season asks you to sit with less light: hands in clay, breath and awareness in the body, and a little quiet made for intention.
A collaboration the world's northernmost town didn't know it needed.
The Schedule
Day 1 — 19th September
We start on paper: a creative brainstorm and sketch of your tea cup design. Aztrid then guides you into pinching — a traditional hand-building technique, shaping clay by hand into a cup that's entirely your own in shape, size, and design.
Between the two clay sessions, Ion leads 90 minutes of intentional movement — space to come back into your senses, feel what your body has to say, and settle deeper into it. After a break for homemade sweets and a late brunch, you'll return to decorate your piece: carving tools for pattern and texture, underglaze paints to mix your own colors and motifs.
10:00–12:00 — Design & sculpting: sketch your design, then pinch and shape your tea cup (with homemade sweets)
12:00–13:30 — Intentional movement with Ahyeong
13:30–14:30 — Brunch prepared by Soul Peak
14:30–16:00 — Decorating: carving & underglaze painting
Day 2 — 3rd October
A quieter close, a few weeks later, as the season turns darker still. Tea made slowly and shared, space to write down what you want to carry into the dark, and a circle to speak it if you choose to.
13:00 — Tea ceremony & polar night intention journaling
15:00 — Sharing circle
Meet Your Hosts
Aztrid leads the ceramics side of the weekend — sketching, pinching, decorating — guiding you through shaping your own tea cup from a ball of clay into something wholly yours. See more of her work here.
Ahyeong, the founder of Soul Peak, leads the intentional movement practice woven between the clay sessions — 90 minutes built to bring you back into your senses and more in touch with your body. Soul Peak also holds the brunch and the Day 2 tea ceremony.
Good to Know
Nails: Come with short nails. You'll be shaping clay with your fingertips, and long nails make the clay harder to work and can leave unwanted marks on your piece.
Your cup: After the workshop, your tea cup needs about a week to dry fully, then two separate firings with a glaze applied in between (glazed inside for food safety, outside by preference). You will receive your finished cup on Day 2, which you will use for the tea ceremony.
